L'hôtel National jouit d'un panorama spectaculaire sur les Dents-du-Midi grâce à l'architecte Eugène Jost qui en 1898 avait rehaussé le National d'un étage. (Il avait d'ailleurs édifié, 2 ans auparavant, la galerie des arcades commerciales, en offrant à la clientèle de l'hôtel un environnement propice au shopping.) Désaffecté et livré à un triste abandon dans le dernier quart du XXe siècle, l'Hôtel National s'apprête à revivre, avec sa réhabilitation en complexe immobilier de luxe. Les travaux de construction et de restauration de la Résidence «Le National de Montreux» s'achèveront en fin d'année 2010 et le complexe de 77 appartements en PPE sera administré par le Comptoir Immobilier SA installée dans la résidence.
